    MP Practice Solutions

    AMA Victoria's practice services arm will assist Tasmanian doctors with a wide range of services for medical practices within the state.

    These services include free telephone advice on any aspect of practice management as well as cost effective consulting to doctors who requiring a more personalised response specific to practice needs.

    AMA Tasmania members receive a 10 per cent discount on selected consulting services. Andrea Koukouravas, recently appointed to the position of Practice Services Manager, brings a wealth of knowledge to this position from which practices can benefit. Andrea has more than 10 years' practice management and consulting experience and is familiar with the elements of an effective medical practice.

    Marketing

    We have qualified marketing staff who can assist you with marketing your practice through advertisements, websites, flyers or pamphlets to ensure your practice receives the level of exposure required.

    Business model review

    A review of your practice services and utilisation of MBS items will be undertaken to make certain your patients can access the range of care options available and ensure that doctors are being adequately compensated for the type of services conducted.

    Accreditation

    Whether it is conducting a gap audit before accreditation to identify areas that may not have been adequately addressed or working with practice staff to prepare the relevant systems and policies and procedures, we can assist. Buying a generic policy manual which can be customised to your practice is another option provided.

    Staff training

    All staff needs training at some stage. mp practice solutions can offer you training across a broad spectrum of topics customised to your needs. Training can be conducted for reception staff, practice nurses or for practice managers. We also conduct onsite programs for issues impacting upon all staff.

    The second edition of AMA Victoria's Private Practice Manual is now available.

    The Private Practice Manual provides doctors and practice managers with a user-friendly and practical guide with comprehensive advice to assist with commencing and managing a private medical practice.

    The Manual details information including setting up a practice; practice management systems; billing, claims and payments; risk management and opportunities; human resources; and, importantly, contains up-to-date legislation.

    It also contains numerous templates and checklists covering everything from confidentiality agreements, position descriptions, letters of appointment, and staff grievance records, to training needs assessments, daily office routine checklists and staff orientation checklists.

    The second edition contains many important improvements and updates, including:

    Publications 

    Australian Medicine 

    The Australian Medical Association publishes Australian Medicine (AusMed) on a fortnightly basis for members. Australian Medicine frequently includes extra resources on subjects that are important to doctors in Australia.

    The Medical Journal of Australia 

    The Medical Journal of Australia is Australia's premier journal of medical practice and clinical research, published by the Australasian Medical Publishing Company Proprietary Limited (AMPCo) for the Australian Medical Association.

    The Medical Journal of Australia (MJA) is published in two volumes a year, issues appearing on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month, except for the December double issue which appears on the second Monday of the month.
